Solutions For Front License Plate

I installed the center Zunsport grill, applied foam tape to the back of the plate to prevent it rubbing on the bumper, then wired the plate to the grill. It required drilling a couple of extra holes in the sides of the plate, and passing wires through the grill mesh and back out was a pain, but I think it looks OK and the bumper remains undrilled.
Hey KCZ, Greetings from sunny & smokey CA! (where front plates are mandatory) Currently have the Platypus, but over it. Have a cunning and evil plan for a solution similar to yours, but a little different:

Instead of mounting to a grill, I'm looking to be a little more flush (kind of like the old corvettes of the early 80's). Thinking of taking a Dremel or some other such tool and cutting channels for the plate in the center depression. 1/4 inch on top and 1/4 inch on the bottom and it should seat fairly nicely, no? Would need to secure with tape on the back side. Thoughts?

Look at the Sto & Sho mount. You drill ... But under the bumper where noone can see. The arms reach forward and hold the plate in front of the car. It's pricey but imo the best solution. And, it has a spring-loaded pin to easily remove whenever you want.

I like the idea of that, I just feel like it will last a week before being scraped off.
