Uh...didn't they walk you through? You get an air compressor in case you get a flat. My M3 didn't come with a spare either. Spares add weight.

 

Check out the topics already on this subject by using the 'search' function. The spare looks to be an option in '07 but it is still unclear if the full size tire that is being replacedfits into any of the Cayman's storage spaces.

A comment regarding spares adding weight. I recently picked up a used 996 spare for use in my yet to be delivered Cayman. I am very impressed with the effort Porsche put into saving weight. The wheel is aluminum, as is the jack and jack handle. The wheel/tire, jack, jack handle, styrofoam jack holder, and cover comes to a total of 27 pounds, according to my uncalibrated bathroom scale. If weight is really why they took out the spare, I'd rather add 27 pounds and have the spare.


In my opinion, the main reasons for removing the spare wasto get more interior spaceand to reduce cost. I think the spare is a lot bigger chunk of cash to them than it is weight.

i have used the fix-a- flat/air compressor recently...works fine. its good for small nails but it will notwork if tire was ruptured.


dealer replaced the tire under tire/wheel policy i purchased with the car.

Living in Hawaii I can never be more than 30 miles from home. So I guess I won't worry about having a spare rright now.

I was looking at the roof racks and thinking you could probably put a full size tire up there.

Carry a set of roof racks and the spare with you on long trips and if you ever need it, stick the full size up there.

 

Where in Hawaii? Can one rent a Cayman, or Boxter,on Oahu or other islands? -- 'could have rented a Ferrari, but $++ per day. Cayman would be a great car for rental there.
