steering wheel adjustment lock problem

Hi
The locking lever for the steering wheel adjustment on my 2007 Boxster stops the wheel from going up and down but the wheel can still be pulled in and out when in the locked position. Has anyone else encountered this problem and found a fix please?

I have 2007 Boxster that had the same problem. Sprayed wd 40 and waited about 4 hrs. Then tapped on it lightly while working the lever. Worked perfect after it started working I sprayed with wd 40 while working it.

My 2007 Boxster has the opposite problem. The wheel will lock from going in and out but it will not lock from going up and down. It started after my daughter adjusted the wheel and she said she had to force it to unlock so she could adjust. But now can’t lock the up and down. What could be broken and what is the fix? Thanks
