160 KPH = 100 MPH, that is too fast for Virginia hi way which is limited to 65-70 MPH.😁

Two days ago, I lowered my spoiler height to 240 steps again, activation speed still default at 120 KPH.
My car is 360 default, tried 250 for two months, and now trying 240. Still looks good, IMHO.

The height of my '25 is 235, which I think it's perfect. The deployment speed is 125 kph (78 mph), which I also left the same. I only reduced the retract speed from 80 kph to 40, to minimize cycling. But on trips, what I'm doing now is to just leave the spoiler up, so it's not cycling on and off. I didn't want to mess with the deployment speed due to possible instability issues, but had to code the spoiler button to keep it up until I click it again. I think it's that way on 981s, but my 718 lowered it every time I stopped. Not anymore. What I wish is that the spoiler lowered itself just touching the button, rather than having to keep it pressed until the thing is fully retracted. To raise it, you just touch it. Good luck on your trip. I'm planning a week-long solo trip to CO in September. Went on a 300-mile mountain run the other day, and my car is perfect. My last 'mod' was to disconnect the vacuum line, so my valve is fully open now. With the turbo and GPF, sound is a lot more subdued than a 981 with valves open, so no issues with that. Otherwise, the darn thing closes from 1K to 4K, even with PSE ON. Your 981 cars are much nicer in many respects. Ha ha.

Ha. Yes. 85 mph is reckless driving here (or 16 over posted). I set it high to keep it down unless I activate via das button.

85 is often the speed of traffic around here. I exaggerate but not by much. If the speed limit is 65, traffic is generally moving at 75. If you want to get around a left lane camper, you’ll hit 85.

Just FWIW - yesterday I took a drive on the Garden State Parkway (a "parkway" sort of north-south road in NJ that many out of state people never see - they take the NJ Turnpike.. thank Dog..)

Anyway - I had the top down, and I can report that a 987.2 Boxster is quite comfortable cruising at 85MPH (and being passed by Japanese cars in the fast lane.. probably doing close to 95mph.) A whole group of us went through a known speed trap (Waze even warned me of it - but it no longer announces cops - I have to see why..) I was in the middle lane which was doing 85MPH, being passed. The cop never even looked mean at us.

I took my car in for routine service today and the tech came out with a concerned look. He said the coolant temp normally holds steady at 194 degF and he worried about a thermostat issue since it rose up around 205 F at idle. I had to tell him I had programmed the true temp display and he laughed as he realized the obvious. He left me smiling with an "all good, then".

That's kinda hysterical..

Since I've programmed the True Temp Display the results have been interesting. Cuz since I've owned the car it stopped at 194F.

The max coolant temp I've seen was 216F.. when the oil temp hovers around 219-223F. Which is my trigger to switch to Sport Mode to open the oil cooler. Once the oil cooler is opened.. the coolant temp drops almost instantly to ~<210F and then the oil temp drops down to a more comfortable level (for my taste anyway).

E' lo stesso per te? (I'm practicing Italian for my next car purchase!)

I've noticed similar numbers. Around town I rarely get over 205 degF but will jump above 212 on occasion. I did a track day with no overheating whatsoever, although my instructor had me monitor tire pressures over engine temps during the sessions.

Black Edition brings no extra power to the base 981 but some very nice added goodies!

I see coolant temps at 219-222F in non-sport mode. Oil temp is usually the same. Sport mode drops both by 30 degrees F. This is mostly highway with a bit of urban travel around Tampa Bay, so humid and hot environment.

Sports Mode can drop coolant temp by 10* Celsius in a matter of seconds.

I always drive in sport mode, and since the coolant temp coding, the highest I've seen it is coincidentally 194F, but most of the time it's in the mid-180 range, and it's hot here in TX (normal driving). By the way, before coding it, by 176.5F real, MFD was already showing 194F. Anyway planning a 5-day solo trip to CO next week or the following one, and will pay attention to it in the twisties, and on the highway too.

Finally, just coded Power Steering+, and brake booster (HBA) to the middle value 'B', to see how they feel tomorrow. I have Hawk performance ceramic pads, which require a bit more pedal pressure, so the 'B' setting should bring pedal effort pretty much back to stock levels IMO. Have a great weekend ahead, everybody.

I drive almost exclusively in Sport mode once the fluids get to temp. I don't have PSE so the added engine noises are very minimal, but throttle response is just SO much better in Sport vs non.

Well you can learn something every day. I've had my 2016 Cayman S since new and just now found out about the cooling function of the Sport mode. When I first read about the Sport mode in the manual, it said that the only effect for me (manual transmission, no Sport Chrono, PASM, no sport exhaust) was to change the throttle mapping. I tried it and didn't like it. I preferred the more linear feel of the Normal mode so I never use Sport mode. That includes on track days where I'm sure I prefer a linear response. In normal around-town or highway driving my coolant temp runs around 216 F and oil is bit above 200. On the track, the coolant actually runs about 206 (in Normal mode). Which to me raises the question of why lower the temperatures via putting the car in Sport mode? If the car has the necessary mechanisms to bring down the temperature, which it clearly does, wouldn't the software do that when it senses aggressive driving on its own? That would explain why my on-track temperature is lower than casual driving. I wish someone had some definitive documentation on Sport mode on the 981.

Is there a way to keep the windows down when you open the top either by the key or the one touch down? My windows stay at 3/4 up.

TIA

I guess not in the windows.

Today I coded 5 repeats on the blinker.

I tried coded the PTV but it’s not on the Systems nor when I searched. Perhaps it wasn’t an option in 2014?

I have the standard mirrors and was hoping to program the mirror dip. I couldn’t find it manually but when I searched “mirror dip” a number (5?) of lines came up but they were all “ Open”. I wasn’t sure whether you could even program them with standard mirrors. Does anyone know?

Thanks!!
