I was going to keep messing with my car, but left the X431 connected (just with the screen off, which I thoughg it was off, but no), and my battery went from 12.7 last night to 12.0 this morning, AND with my Optimate6 5A charger hooked up. WTF? Disconnected the unit, and it's now at 12.4V, so hope it was not related to the coding. Anyway, I'll just change the down position to 40, so the spoiler will be functional as stock, since at lower speeds it doesn't matter if the spoiler is up or down; it's just to minimize wear-and-tear a little.

Hey, found out 781 don't have the coding 981s do to make the PCM default to OFF, with this code:

PCM/CDR: Network Power Management Activation--Activation=Inactive {Default: Enable}

So will probably try switching from Cayman(982), to Cayman(981), and see if I can find it there, and if it works. My guess is it should. That way the PCM defaults to OFF, rather than ON. If you just push the volume knob, it turns back on. You can turn it off by long-pressing the volume button, but seems simpler to default to off. You probably knew this, but if not, then you have one more thing to code, if desired. By the way, I had to use my iCarsoft as 981 to reset the oil warning on my car, so it should work, no?

Wish somebody here would also find a way to make Park Assist default to OFF:p. But apparently nobody has done that, right?

Regarding battery charge, mine drops quite low (similar to yours) and I get warnings the sockets are being deactivated while battery terminal connected to my CTEK. Switching to “supply” mode seems to help a bit but it still does if I’ve left the car for a few days and try to code. Switching the key off then on reactivates the sockets and usually the OBD port stays on. I do worry a bit that I’ll brick the ECU if the port turns off, mid “write”.

Great Thread!! (y)
Thanks for all the great info. in this thread.

Received a ThinkDiag (TKD01) from Amazon yesterday for $86. "Next Day Delivery"!

Gonna go straight to the Actual Water Temp, GT3 steering and Brake weighting adjustments first.

Exciting stuff!
More later...

I'm done with coding for now, but need to test my car for parking brake activation if a door is open (6MT). I'm almost sure it doesn't do that, but if it does, then I'd deactivate that feature, which also deactivates A/S/S completely, as a side-effect, apparently. I always prefer to have everything functional, I'd have to decide if I want to do it or not, even though I never use A/S/S. But sport mode deactivates it, and I always drive in sport mode, so no need to deactivate it. Need to order the drive mode memory module, by the way.

I probably screwed up turning the X431 off before turning ignition OFF. After doing that, the car shut off like if I had switched the ignition to OFF. Really weird the machine could do that. Hope no issues, but next time will turn off ignition first. The good news is my charger is flashing green now, like it should. Here's a list of relevant points.

-The X431 CRP919X Elite now recognizes my '25 even with auto-VIN detection, so that was great news. It required forcing the unit to do a 'special' download, but it detects it perfectly now, so great news.

-My spoiler raise speed was 125 stock (vs 120 for 981s), so I left it as is. Also didn't alter the stock 235 height. Just lowered the retract speed from 80 to 40, to minimize wear-and-tear. Found a bunch of other spoiler settings, including one with 40 mph and other with 10 mph. Wonder what the heck they are, out of curiosity, but were in German.

- Couldn't code the PCM to default to off. Tried as Cayman(981), and Cayman(982), but the code just wasn't there. Oh well. Was also looking at coding Park Assist to default to OFF as well, but no dice either.

- I added the DRL on/off menu option under 'lighting', but turning it off for coding threw all kinds of DCTs (4 DRL faults, 2 A/C faults, and key not present fault -when it was). So it does NOT like to be turned off. And the codes didn't clear themselves after turning them back on. Fortunately, after clearing them, they didn't come on again. I'll surely remove this for resale.

Need to test my 6MT car to see if it activates the parking brake when opening the door while idling in N, to decide if I want to do one last code or not. When disabling auto parking brake when opening a door, it also disables A/S/S as a 'side-effect'. Since sport mode automatically switches it off, and I always use sport mode, I prefer not to disable it. I like having everything operational, even if the parking brake is engaged, might leave that code alone. The only instance auto parking brake activation would be a hindrance is maybe if putting the car on ramps in R, but I lift the car from the central jacking point, so will never have to do that. Will test this on my car also with clutch out and in, and see if parking brake engages at any point. I don't think it does, at least in N, but will report back.

Hey, if you have a chance, could you try switching your DRLs off, and check your car for codes with a 'health report'? I'm almost sure it's only with LEDs, but curious if you get any 'soft' codes. Like I mentioned, the mod works on my car too, and it was nice to use it during coding, but I don't plan to use it again.

And I assume Porsche re-tested the spoiler, and lowered it a little (235 now), and increased the deployment speed a little too (125 now), to maybe reduce drag at higher speeds, and improve fuel economy.

I coded in the DRL OFF checkbox and shut them off once, with no errors and no soft codes (981) generated. The PCM coding should be three updates.
BCM config: BCM config byte 1 - Daytime running light = 1
Front end elec: Coding value - Exterior lighting- exterior lighting: DDL specification = No
Front end elec: Coding value - Exterior lighting- Exterior lights: DD lights can be activated via PCM instrument cluster = Yes

Yep, I did those 3, although the 1st one is under 'Instrument Cluster' on our 718s. The last 2 are the same. And it works perfectly fine, BUT throws those errors when OFF, for some reason. We think it's because the LED lights, but couldn't figure out if there is another code that could fix that.
Also had another LED fail: The 4-pt DRL on with headlights on. It works on non-LED cars, but not on mine... and it's not PDLS+ (just PDLS). It does work with parking lights, but with headlights on, the headlights just turn on/off/on/off/etc., like turn-signals. There might be a way to make both work, but I'm not going to mess with my car more than I already did. Ha ha. And looking at the PIWIS codes, I didn't see anything that could work. Also disappointed I couldn't change both PCM and Park Assist to default to OFF on my car. The former can be done on 981s, by the way. Oh well. Shouldn't have sold my GTS, right?:ROFLMAO:
Finally, also wanted to make PSE work like on 981s: when ON, valves are always open. That's not the case with our cars, which basically shut them off from 1K to 4K rpm, so almost like we didn't have PSE. So just removed the vacuum line on my car (just 1 valve) today, and will test it maybe tomorrow and see if it drones. Hopefully not, to leave it open permanently. With the turbo and GPF, it should be neighbor friendly.

So far my experience with the ThinkDiag & ThinkDiag+ Software has been extremely spotty. Leaving me with serious questions and doubts about what the system is doing to my car and my Android phone.

So far, only one of the menu paths documented above has worked for me (the GT3 Steering code).

Is there a document from ThinkCar (ThinkDiag+) that describes each of the menu paths for each version of the software (mine is now v3.2.3)? Asking because I've reloaded the software 3 times with different results each time. All "Search"es (in the app) have resulted in "software not found". WTF??

I bought a junk tablet to side load the software. Too sketchy to ever put on a phone that matters.
Works well on the one above.

That said, sometimes the coding menus don't load via VIN search or saved vehicles. Manually selecting Brand > Model > sub-model works every time.
It's clunky android software from China, don't expect the polish of Macintosh.

Hey guys, big favor. I'm almost done with my car, but still need to re-code some things, reverse some others, and would like to add one more... IF you think it'd do what I think, which is that the reverse camera doesn't pop up with the least amount of rollback while in N.
Does anybody have experience with this code? It's the bottom left one. Since I don't want to be messing with different numbers, I'd like to just set it to '255', meaning it should only pop up if there's an obstacle. The weird thing is my car does NOT have a code here, but the X431 says '0 to 255'. I'm sure it's '0', since it pops up immediately. Any info and advice would be greatly appreciated. Don't want to mess anything up, especially since I might not be able to put the code back with no data. And no, this code is not on anybody's list that I know of. I'm also going to post in on the 718 coding thread. Thanks gang.

Does anyone know if this ThinkDiag will work? My sense is it won’t.

I think you need this one l:

I think you need this one l:

Correct, you want the second one. Neither the Mini nor the BD6 support coding, and the Mini doesn't even allow service resets according to ThinkDiag's own site. To code in options, you'll need either the ThinkDiag (TKD01) or ThinkDiag2 (TKD04) plus an Android device to load the app.

Done & confirmed to work:
GT3 EPS Profile----PTV Software----Actual temperature of coolant display----Instrument cluster background light always ON----Lowered spoiler height----Rain sensing wipers----Open/close windows using key fob as remote control----Hydraulic Brake Assist = B----Neutral Display "N"----One Touch Turn Signal Flash from 3 to 5----

I also did a health scan on my 2004 Mini Cooper S and cleared 4 fault codes.

For 18% of the price of PIWIS 2 that can probably do 90% of PIWIS functions and be able to process other car makes, I highly recommend Thinkdiag TKD01. Easy to use and you don't have to translate german;)

Edited: added more coding & confirmed to work
Hey my man, any chance you have the steps to do the open/close windows using the key fob? that sounds amazing!

Funny, on my 987.2, you had to program left and right windows separately.

It’s $70 here.

What am I missing? It’s now $118 on ThinkDiag own site

K' got the Tablet. Did the sideload of the ThinkDiag+ app..
No further problems loading menus.
Got the following coding done:

* Steering Profile: Changed from GT3 to GT4..n' I like it!!
The GT3 was too weird on my Cayman. Didn't seem to fit the car well. Also experienced a new bit of tram-lining..n' I hate tram-lining!
Thinking the GT4 profile is geared more for the mid-engine configuration.

* Brake Boost: Moved it to the "A" setting. Feels more like the 6 piston Brembo's on the Viper. Love it!

* One Touch Signal Turn: Set the value to "5". Fits my driving style. Love it!

* Battery Coding: Not that I felt like this was needed, but I did it anyway (cuz I could).

* Actual Coolant Temp: Have stepped into this function twice now with no change. Am realizing that when CaymanEd says "copy the values in X (1-8) to Y" he really means to hand jam 'em.

Coding session(s) done with Noco Genius 5 Battery Tender connected.
All is well.

@LarryB , try x431tool.com. The model TKD01 (item SC511-C) is still US$83, all software, free delivery. That is where I bought mine last February. The US$70 you saw is for the all software 1 year subscription only.
