It would be very helpful to know where you live / what kind of weather you drive in.

7500 for summer max performance rears is not horrible, and 2:1 rear to front seems to be the norm for our cars.

If you are not pushing the car (and no track or AX), you could consider A/S with a higher tread wear which will give longer life. Tirerack.com lets you input your car and see all the options - worth looking at the choice and comparing tread wear ratings, reviews, price, etc.

I have to agree with the OP, 7,500 miles from a set of rear tires that have been driven conservatively is ridiculous.

I have a 2016 CGTS with 17,500 spirited miles and the OEM GoodYears need rear replacements as they’re at the wear bars. The fronts have approximately 4/32 nds of tread left.

Are your tires wearing evenly?

Are you running recommended tire pressures ?

 

Yes, pretty even wear...from tire to tire and across each tire. And yes, tire pressures as prescribed.

I'm in South Florida. Long periods of sun interrupted by torrential rains. Tirerack is where I saw the PS4S with pretty good tread wear ratings (300), second only to Continental Extremecontact Sport (340). Neither of which is N spec, but I don't think we really drive like we need an N spec tire. Just an occasional driver, used more when the top can be down comfortably.

 

Maybe your right foot isn't as conservative as you think it is.

These are all very soft, very sticky tyres and they wear quickly when the 'sticky' is used. On the track a couple of thousand miles is excellent wear. F1 cars can sometimes get close to 150 miles on a set of tyres!

In one recent test the difference between the best summer performance tyre and the worst was just over 3%.

BTW--I drive with some spirit multiple times per week and at 21000km (13,000mi) my PZeros are coming close to the wear bars, so not many '000s left. The front and rear are almost identical.

 

My Yokohamas are at 10K and have plenty of rubber left. But will likely go with the Michelins when it's time for replacement. Loved them on my 987.

 

I'm on the same tires as OP and have probably closer to 10k miles on my Yokohamas (I have 17500 on the car, but I swap in winter) - the rears are basically ready for replacement (they might last a month at best in spring). I've done 1 track day in them as well.
7500 is pretty low mileage to get on them, but depending on road surface / temperature it seems plausible. For any "max performance summer" tire (what comes stock on the car) anything over 10000 miles is pretty decent tread life.

Instead of paying to swap twice, I'll be getting Michelin PS4s come spring time - they're just all around a better tire.

 

The factory Bridgestones on my 981 lasted about 12,500 miles on the rear. My current MPSS have about 9,000 miles on them and are wearing much better than the factory tires. I'm estimating I will get 15-17K out of them. 7500 for normal street driving seems crazy low to me. It's completely normal for the fronts on these cars to last as much as twice the miles of the rears for street only driving

As far as tire pressures go, I've been using the specs on the plate inside the door, 29/30 PSI Front/Back. Does that seem right?

 

First off you could dump the Yokos which have a UTQG wear rating of 240 and buy a set of Mich Pilot 4S which I believe have a wear rating of 300. In addition to the higher wear rating the 4S have a treadwear warrantee of 30K miles whereas your Yokos have none. As others have said a two to one front to rear milage is about right but 7500 miles for "conservative" driving means you maybe throwing money away.

 

Just a clarification, the treadwear warranty on any tire is based on rotating the tires on a designated schedule as far as I am aware, so this will not apply to our asymmetrical front/rear tire sizes unless I am missing something? I have always been told by my tire shop that the tread wear warranty on unidirectional tires on my Porsche does not apply since they cannot be rotated up front, or at best will be 50% of the stated warranty value which in the OP's case would still be double what he is currently reporting.

 

Turbo cars will do that to ya!

I have put spirited, 20K miles of street driving on Michelin PS4S and still have 5mm all around with my 2.7. Wonderful tire too, I recommend them.

I used to drive big torque cars, various biturbed gas and diesel. You end up using more rear tire than anything else...

I have a 981S and will assume the 718 should be in the same ballpark. I got over 15K from my last set or rears (Goodyears from prior owner). On my 987S I'd get 15-20K on the rears.

Add another recommendation for Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. Great tire, much nicer than the Goodyear I had before this. It seems to be the best all around summer tire from what I read (works fine in rain for me as well).

Since you are seeing wear issues I'd have it aligned (front and rear) and the suspension checked for issues. Get that done by someone who knows these cars, ideally.
