Seems like an infomercial. Nothing wrong with that. Got to hand it to Porsche for the improved performance. Except when he started the car. That sound made me wince.

Looks to be a wonderful car, and if I hadn't got addicted to the NA six, I might be tempted. Just sounds a bit too much like a fart can on a ricer.

Objectively better than the outgoing 981.1 in every way... I'll believe that.

But I just don't care. Diesel truck sounds for the price of a Porsche. It could have 0-60 in less than 2 seconds and cause immediate underpants removal of every attractive woman in a 5 mile radius from its wake, and I still wouldn't want one.

Porsche has always been about 'driver experience' and not high power. The dude doing the review is a mustang lover who never looked at Porsche, till now when power is acceptable and affordable (for a Porsche)...it's all he cares about. Get back to yo mustang poser.

I agree with most of what you say, and I'm not a fan of Mr. Farah, but, to be fair, while he does have a Mustang build or two, he's a rich kid who's had access to and driven lots of exotic cars, like Ralph Lauren's F1s. I believe he owns an Aston Martin, and his dad was the CEO of Ralph Lauren.

I've never watched any of his videos before; but I wasn't very impressed with the video quality nor how he described the car (and he just seemed to keep driving up and down the same road). Looking forward to TheGetawayer's review if/when that comes.

He used to work at a Porsche dealer, in sales, back when the transition from 993 to 996 happened. I get the idea from his comments I've seen that he soured on Porsche after that period. So it was nice hearing him say a lot of positive things about the 718; easily as controversial as the move to water cooled that the 996 was.

I'm really liking how that graphite blue metallic looks on that 718S he was driving. I have to admit when looking on the configurator it's curious which interior colors go well with it, however.

To be fair, much of that audio sounded like it was between 2-5,000 revs. What is up with so many of these demo audio sets shortshifting these cars. The real fun is way beyond that, and in fairness to the 718/991.2, that would be a better comparison, eh?

Nah it sounds like an Impreza. Revving high revving low. Best part about is it's quiet, because any louder and it would be even more disappointing.

I do think the reason we're complaining is because we know what a flat NA 6 engine sounds like. People used to STIs, GTIs, z370s, BMWs, etc know no better. To them it would sound fine.

Matt Farah is such a giant. He barely fits in any of these cars. He couldn't even see out of the GT4 Clubsport.

I have listen to every one of the Smoking Tire Podcasts (Matt's main one), and they are pretty funny. Go back to some of the first ones when they have a comedian.

I have watched a lot of his reviews back in the drive days and now his one takes when its a car I am remotely interested in. I find him entertaining and he doesn't generally doesn't kiss anyone's ***. He will be nice to individual's cars he's driving, but he's not afraid to call something terrible. He used to do much more polished reviews that cost more money and resulted in net losses. Now he does these one takes which are him, a go pro and him just stream of thought on what the car is doing. They are cheap and they get a lot of hits, so he actually makes a profit. As a business man, I get it. If the masses want that, give it to them. He tries to counter balance that with some quality reviews on /drive.

I notice that this style is creeping into all his reviews. So, if you are expecting something eloquently worded review, he's not our man. If you are looking for someone that's driven more cars than you will every seen who will give it to you unfiltered, he's your guy.

All that said, of all the reviews of his I have watched, I think he was holding his punches and was being a fan boy for the sake of wanting to be asked again. For example, see his review of the 991, a press car he was practically the last journalist to get the car. It has the polish and scripted descriptions some of you are looking for. I actually believe what he says here.
