981 Aftermarket LSD and PTV requirement

I want an LSD; I don't want PTV. I'd be perfectly content waiting until an aftermarket stand-alone LSD was an option for the 981, but I got it in my head somewhere that PTV was a necessity for that to happen. I can't think of a logical reason why, other than if the unit already exists, it's a drop-in replacement vs. some more complicated surgery.

Someone set me straight - if I ignore PTV on the options sheet, I should be able to bolt one on later, yeah? Assuming someone makes one?

Correct, There would be no requirement for you to order PTV if you wait for and install an aftermarket LSD. But you wont get the torque vectoring.

At least in Canada, if you order PTV, you have to get PASM too. So you will save a lot more waiting for an aftermarket solution. Given the the 981 gearbox and LSD seems to be virtually identical to the 987.2 cars, it shouldn't be long. In all likelyhood the Guards unit fits, but someone will have to verify. The bias ratios are identical between the two cars, so the LSD is likely identical and it is Getrag MT6 in both cars. Splines and bearing may be different.

I couldn't wait, since winter will come before the aftermarket LSD I suspect. PTV is kinda handy on sharp city corners. I wouldn't have thunk it. COuld have lived without PASM, which lowers the car 10 mm, which is the antithesis of why I want the LSD (for snow).

I assume these aftermarket LSDs are not compatible with PDK? If not, I would be interested as I didn't order PTV; the idea of using the brakes to vector the torque did not appeal to me.

That's more or less where I'm at. I'm past my config cutoff, so this is all largely academic. :)
