Do 981 wheels fit 718?

Can anyone please confirm that wheels from 981 can fit 718?

Any change in offset/PCD etc...

Want to know if I can use my existing winter wheels which are 981 Cayman S 19" wheels

Thanks

You 99% will be able to. If bolt pattern stays the same and offset is within 5mm you'll be fine. I don't think 718 is getting dramatically bigger brakes (if at all)

After seeing the 718 "in the flesh" I got the impression that the brake rotors are of the same size, but the front calipers are larger than on the 981...

They do sell winter tyre & wheel sets on 18" to the 718 S, so it appears that the larger calipers still work with 18". 19" should be no problem!

Just a heads up wheel sizes and offsets are now listed in the 718 configurator (obviously 5/130 bolt pattern is unchanged).

For example, here's the 20" Carrera wheel option: width, offsets and tire sizes:
8 x 20 ET 57 with 235/35 ZR 20 tires (front)
10 x 20 ET 45 with 265/35 ZR 20 tires (rear)

It sounds like the (winter) wheels from a 981 will definitely bolt onto a 718. Could someone confirm that the tire pressure sensors will be read by the car?
I want to use the winter wheels that I used with my 981 with my new (yet-to-be-delivered) 718. I was just talking to the dealer's service manager about using them immediately since it might be a snowy winter delivery and he wasn't sure that the sensors would use the same frequency.

Please see this post of mine from a number of months ago:

http://www.planet-9.com/porsche-tires-and-wheels/191274-718-aftermarket-wheel-fitment-info.html

It was moved to the Porsche Tires & Wheels subforum, which reeks since it's now buried in the morass there and does folks like the OP no good. (Nice job, mods ... sheesh.)

Also: @unreg , your info is wrong:
- The 718 S now has the brakes from the 991.1 911 Turbo, not the "regular" 991.1 911. Big difference there. And:
- The rear wheel on the 718 is 1/2" wider than its counterpart on the 981. Tire sizes are the same, but OEM wheel sizes are slightly different on the rear axle.

Sorry you feel that way, but unless your thread is made sticky it would have gotten buried eventually, regardless of which sub forum it’s in.

I was hoping an angel would reassure me about tire pressure sensors before I left work, but in case they don't here are some browser tabs I have open.

Tire Rack says that I need new sensors and pointed me to a part that seems it could be identical as the old one. Perhaps the same frequency, 433 MHz. https://www.tirerack.com/tpms/detai...l.jsp?ID=2279&autoMake=Porsche&autoModel=718+Boxster&autoYear=2017&autoModClar=
Meanwhile, a dealer I found online has different part numbers for the sensors between the 981 (9a790727506) and 718 (9a790727502).

I also see 315 MHz sensors mentioned.

I still have some hope.

edit: Tire Rack link was broken when i just clicked it so i searched on the item and found it under 2017 Porsche 718 Boxster. part 5Q0-907-275

In my case ('14 Cayman wheels mounted to an '18 718) the existing sensors did NOT work. I also noticed that the part numbers for both the OE and aftermarket sensors have changed for the 718. I've ordered a set of the new sensors to have installed, but will report back for posterity's sake in the event the tire shop is somehow able to get the sensors from the '14 to work.

Sorry to revive a dead thread, but will the wider rear wheels (9.5J vs 9J) prevent the fitment of 18" 981 Winter wheels?

I’d like to fit the 981 series 18" “Cayman” winter wheel

On paper it has the following specs:
Front axle: 8 J x 18 RO 57 with 235/45 R 18 94V M+S tire,
Rear axle: 9 J x 18 RO 47 with tires 265/45 R 18 101V M+S.

This is awfully close to the the currently offered 718 18” rims
Front axle: 8 J x 18 RO 57 with 235/45 R 18 94V M+S tire,
Rear axle: 9.5 J x 18 RO 49 with 265/45 R 18 101V M+S tires.

Will the extra 1/2" prevent them from fitting? Sorry for the n00b question!

Nope, just bolted them right on as if they were the same size.

Now the TPMS sensors from wheels purchased during the 981 era do not seem to work with a 718. There's another thread around about that.

I don't know if the smaller wheel width helps in the winter; that's the received wisdom about narrow tires. I don't know what difference the wheel width makes; I just trust that the German engineers knew what they were doing.
