Headlight upgrades anyone?

You know I've done that for every other Porsche I've owned but THIS one, with the Agate Gray over ORANGE interior, seems to work!

I have these on my car (4300K). FYI, these i believe are ripoffs of the real PHILIPS brand of HIDs (which i don't think you can buy). They work well though, plug and play. Matches my fogs pretty well.
Thanks.

Hi there,

I have had my 987.2 base Cayman for under a week now, and am really happy with it. I do commute at night, so I am also looking to upgrade my lights. I have LED's on my BMW 330i, and am really happy with them. I did notice a sharp cut off of light upon taking delivery of the BMW, and had the lights adjusted up to meet Australian road standards. Not sure what kelvin they are, but 6000k that you posted might be a touch blue. I am looking for a 5000k kelvin LED source, to give me a whiter light, and more output than the regular halogens in the Porsche at the moment.

Would like HID's, but illegal to install aftermarket in Australia, due to not self levelling and no washers (ADR rules). LED's look like a good alternative.

Let us know how you go.

Ken
Will do. Aus seems a bit hard A%% on issues like this. The Phillips lights are either 4000 or 6000 K so I think I'll end up going with the 6000 to try and approximate the white of the fog lights.

Quick questions guys when ordering lights.

1. Are these "low-beam" replacements (or Low/High when vehicle has single bulb) and

2. What Temp? 4300? 6000?

Thanks in advance...

If you currently have bi-xenon lighting, check out this thread before you order anything else. The 66340CBI part number is the correct one to use if you want a closer match between the LED DRLs and low beams. No need to screw around with ballasts or anything else, just swap the bulbs.

The low-beam bulb is used for both high and low beams.

(Disclaimer: if you don't have PDLS, I have no idea if these will work.)

Are those just straight bulb replacement? What is this ballast about?

I have the basic 981S headlights with no upgrades, whatever that is...

It amazed me that it was possible to order a 981 without Xenon lights and without automatic climate control (no temperature adjustment, just fanspeed and hot/cold). I would have sworn that both would be standard by now.
Upgrade from halogens would be a nice upgrade I'd think. On the other end of the scale, the PDLS Plus lights are really great. My GTS has them and I was surprised how well they work. Both the swiveling into corners and high beam auto works great. In addition to being bright and lighting far. Still not on par with Mercs or Audis with matrix led lights though, but really good!

We have the LED headlights with PDLS+ on our Macan and they are simply superb!!! They certainly make the halogens on my Cayman look very out of date! The Macan is my night driving choice for sure! Am still waiting for a plug and play option to improve the Cayman lights in due coarse - it will come.
