Recently,
I've seen a lot of enthusiasts discussing iCarsoft's Porsche Diagnostic Tools (POR series) in the forum, including POR II, POR V2.0, and POR V3.0. Considering that you may have questions about the differences and application scenarios of these products, I've compiled a feature comparison and share it with you in the hope that it will help you to get started or those who are already using them! You are also welcome to share your own experience or questions~

Thank you for posting that. I have several questions hope you don't mind me posting here, but let me know if you want me to delete my post. You already helped me answer the first, but will include it anyway. Oh, and my car is a '25 Cayman 2.0T 6MT.
1. The CR Pro I have (which includes Porsche, and many other brands) is the old generation V2.0, and not POR II, since it doesn't include TPMS, AND the s/n is iV***. By the way, just downloaded the latest version, and it's V11.50. I think POR II is V33.50.
2. Which year is the latest you can reset service reminders with my older V2.0? It does NOT list Cayman 982 (diagnostics do, by the way), so probably not. I could try with 'Cayman 981' (or '911 991'), since my 982 is basically the same thing, but want to make sure I wouldn't mess anything up. Please let me know, and if not, I'd try it, and post results. I already did myself the 1K-mile oil change. And will need to reset it in December for sure, when first service is due (I'll do it myself too, even when it's included).
3. Which would be the cheapest non-app/phone scanner that works with my '25 car for basic service functions, like oil and battery reset? Would the latest iCarsoft V3.0 work? And what about if I want to add coding functions, like backlit dash? Thank you.

Hey gang, is there a risk to brick anything if I try to extend my maintenance date (it's not on yet, since my car is new, but already changed the oil once at 1K+ miles) with iCarsoft POR V2.0 (not POR II), and with 991, hoping it includes 991.2, which is basically the same version as my '25 718? The service menu doesn't list Cayman 718, like the diagnostic menu does; only Cayman 981, and 911 991, so I'd have to try with either one of those. I'm almost sure it wouldn't work with 981, but curious if I can try with 991 (or both, if needed), and see what happens. BUT, only if there's zero risk to mess up anything. Thank you.

If no luck, will have to find a suitable alternative by December, when my service warning will trigger. Hope I don't have to spend a small fortune on one. Take care.

I used it to reset the now departed 2018 Macan Sport Edition, but haven't used it on the 2022 Macan GTS, nor my 2025 718. So is there a risk to try to reset it, even if not supported? That was my question. I asked because some folks have been able to reset it when supposedly not supported, while others haven't been able to do it while supposedly supported. So guess you never know.
I'd like to try it, if it's safe... but won't try it until somebody can chime in if safe. I know my '25 won't be supported by the V2.0, because 'Cayman 982' is not in the service menu... but it is on the Diagnostic one.
If not supported, hopefully somebody knows which ones work on a '25. I'd assume any scanner that works on a 2017, should work on a 2025, since it's the same thing. In fact, it's basically the same thing as a 981, as far as that (identical dash), so that's why I want to give it a try, if safe. Thank you.

Just wanted to inform the gang I just tried extending the oil change date on my '25 718 with a POR V2.0 (actually a CR PRO, which is a multi-vehicle unit, but uses POR V2.0), AND IT WORKED!!! Used 'Cayman 981', since there's no 'Cayman 982', by the way. Hope this helps others.

Is there a new version? I tried updating my V2.0 (old) recently, and it had the latest version, which was at least 1-1/2 years old. I thought they were updated at least once a year, but maybe not. At least it worked on my '25 718 (had to use 981), so I'm good. But just curious if it'll get upgraded again. Thank you.

It supposedly included lifetime updates, but I don't even remember where I bought it. And when new, it didn't come with a manual or anything. It's all online now, I guess. Anyway, if there was an update, and I needed to pay for it, it'd have said that, no? It's simply just the latest, I think.
Anyway, in case I wasn't clear, I downloaded ALL brands on my unit, but at least the Porsche one, was the same version it had before, so no changes. Meaning only 982 on diagnostics, but only 981 on service, where the oil reset is. But like I said, 981 updated my '25 718, so I don't really care if there are no further updates. I simply expected an update after 1-1/2 years. Next time I connect it, will check to see if it says anything about the updates.
