After two weeks of having it, I finally got around to installing them today and man that piece of art is gorgeous!!!

But because my car is really low, I know I will have scraping issues and problems driving with this thing around. I need to raise the car maybe an inch just to get clearance through driveways. I'm afraid I might end up shattering it like my CF Interseries one I had a few years back.

I may need to get an adjustable suspension or something... I'm torn whether to take the risk driving it around or wait till I have the funding for an adjustable suspension lol!

Your car looks great with the silver accents. A question... is your car set up lower the the "R" stock suspension? I had an A4 with a German DTM splitter and that thing was good for an estimated 300lbs at high speed but would touch down even on bridge transitions on the Mass Pike...a pain in the A$$. It was less of a plow and more of a front wing in design with air exits. I think I may need one of these Toth splitters for my .2 when they show up.
I like your name shifterkart, I was running an Invader/Komet back in the day when Pruit and Goodyear were the fast kids and Lake Speed was getting old.

Thank you for the compliments.
I only have H&R springs and I know that I sit lower than the R. My concern with the splitter is that because I'm much lower, I end up scraping going through driveways. That's how I shattered my old CF Interseries Front Splitter lol!

COOL! there's not much Comet karts out here in the west. Majority are the major Euro kart brands -CRG, Tony Kart, Birel, etc. I haven't raced as much as I used to since I got married lol! But I still go to the track to get my itch scratched. When I used to race, the former American F1 race car driver Scotty Speed was the national Champ and most of the current Indy drivers were still coming up the National karting ranks( Rahal, Karam, Saavedra etc..)Its great to see these guys make it to the top and win races!

Ha ha different generations. Invader kart and Komet reed, good for 17000 rpms not 18000 as the piston skirts will disintegrate and blow out the blimp pipe...live and learn. When I was racing Lake Speed had just won the World Karting Championships in Germany...dont think that didnt surprised the Europeans...huge upset!!

Hey shifterkartracer,

Just curious what is the distance b/w the bottom of the splitter and the ground. Unfortunately that looks a little too low for me.

Joe, any chance you could make something with a little less height? I'd also be interested in a rear diffuser.

Thanks!

Moto, If you measure the distance from the side marker light to the ground and subtract 15-3/4" that will be your ground clearance for the blade. For fun I am next week going make a two piece splitter for Bill's car as a test to see how much we can move the blade. This is what I do on my 996 pieces and can adjust ground clearance on the lowered cars. It also provides the option of not using the blade for daily street use.

Thanks for the response Joe! That would put me at 4-3/4" clearance. I'd say, I'm definitely in the 2 piece department. Please keep us updated!

Hey Moto,

I'm a little less than 3 inches... were still talking Splitters right? Lol! Jk!

But yeah I haven't really driven it that much since I've installed it. Definitely driving it this weekend.

I have 5-inch clearance for the splitter with h&r springs. The springs only have 300 miles on them but I don't think they will settle much more.

Would be interested in this in the UK for my 987.1

this is not something i would trust international postage on unless it was boxed..

J-P.....I will certainly let you and everyone know when I have a .2 piece available. Yes I can ship to the UK but it is pricey. I am currently working with someone in London who would like to be a dealer , if things work out we can ship quantity to reduce shipping costs.

Ha! Wow! Less than 3 inches. Let us know how it goes. Unfortunately, I have a soft curb into our driveway which is the part I'm most worried about.

Hey Joe, I realize these are carbon fiber but has anybody painted these to match? Do you offer anything other than carbon fiber?

You guys are killing me with these pics/write ups.

Motofanatic......The splitters are black gel coat/fiberglass. I don't do a lot of CF as these pieces are consumables for track use and I personally would not pay the high dollars for CF to use it up on the track.
Here are a couple of pictures of guys who have painted to color match. They are both 996 TT two piece splitters and coincidentally both set up at 3" clearance.

Thanks for posting the pics. I have absolutely no idea why I thought they were C/F.

That said, I do like the painted look.

Thanks!

Hello folks. New to the forum. My name is Joe and I'm the one who made this 987.1 splitter. I'm an old guy who likes to mess around in my spare time. I started this whole splitter making thing by designing a piece for my car years ago and since have had requests to do other models. At present I'm between P-cars but planning is well underway and should have my next project by the end of the summer. If anyone has any questions or wishes to contact me, feel free my email is tei@telus.net or facebook "Joe Toth Composites" where there are pictures of most of the parts I make.
Welcome Joe! I'm going to check our your FB page and see what I can order up for my CS.
