So today the weather was nice and I went out for a drive, tried to lower the top and it just stayed put though the rear clamshell opened and the motors whirred. Looking around in there it looks like there is a lever with a plastic ball on it that is broken and those levers are just flopping around. I can raise and lower it fine by hand if I stop the clamshell halfway.
Seems like this is a common problem due to this part which receives a lot of stress being made out of plastic. Cost savings!
Anyway looking around it looks like OEM only sells new rods and they are not super cheap. But I found this ebay listing that claims to sell OEM ball joints for $29 shipped: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-Bo...op-Push-Rod-Repair-OEM-Ball-Joint-PairNEW-/191595585977?ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT
Anyone know if these are legit? I figure I might try them and I'm only out $30 if they break in a year but before I spend it I thought I'd see if anyone has any experience with them.
