My ERISIN Unit always turns ON whenever I turnthe car ignition on. Even if I turn the ERISIN OFF first before I turn the car off. Am I missing sometning? Is this expected? I dont wasnt it to startup until I press Power.
The OEM 3.1 does not start if switched off then car restarted.

Sorry to drop into this highly technical discussion with my dumb question, but can someone confirm that this unit will definitely fit the attached build sheet? It has 680 (Bose) and 686 (Sat), so I think that makes it a CDR31? And if anyone knows where to get the best price shipped to the US, that would be appreciated as well. Thanks to all for your contributions.

No, it makes it a Bose system. You will need to the fiber optic decoder in addition to the head unit.

I have a used one (installed for 6 weeks) if interested. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. I just went a different route and installed a CHSTEK 7862E unit. You would still need to buy the fiber optic decoder.

PM me if interested.

Can you tell us more about the CHSTEK unit ? is it really better than the Erisin unit ? is the definition better ? thanks

Has anyone validated the OS and hardware specs on the Erisin or CHSTEK head units?
I'm curious if the advertised specs are legit and if there is any security measures taken to ensure these have a safe supply chain.
Secure supply chain and Android being sold without Google's endorsement is probably a laughable proposition but I don't recall seeing the topic come up in this thread.

The stereo sound is very similar between the two. The Erisin is cheaper ($200) and is limited to ram/rom of 4/64. The CHSTEK has variable ram/rom combos and the 7862E is up to 8/256 (top of the line which is $200 more).

However, where the CHSTEK shines is the screen and that it looks more OEM. The top is the Erisin unit, the bottom CHSTEK. The CHSTEK installation is a tad more involved and the various system options are more. The door position on the CHSTEK appears in the center of the screen, and the front parking sensors shows up as a moveable overlay once it detects an object.

Has anyone added rear speakers to the Erisin head unit? I had the basic non bose system and connected everything fine but then wanted to add two rear speakers . But when I connected the rear speakers to the provided extra wiring loom I get nothing. Also does anyone know how to get it to work with the factory sensors? i have seem posts on here saying it works.

@jdunne9407 Yes, I had the same exact CDR31 basic head unit. You can connect rear speakers to the stock Porsche factory Quadlock connector by wiring directly to the open, available pins for the rear speakers. I purchased two used rear Porsche Bose surround speakers, two Bose tweeters, a used Porsche Quadlock connector with pigtails and some wiring connectors for the rear Bose speakers – mounted these into the black plastic speaker holders on my 2014 Boxster. The Erisin unit handles these speakers well.

My rear parking sensors work connected to the ERISIN and show up on the right side when backing up. Hopefully this is what you were referencing?

Here's page 6 out of the new install PDF I've drafted to help you along with rear speaker install.
Cheers!

Following @studioRS and @Cayman Ed s threads, I connected the rear speaker to the Erisin unit. It's very easy to do if you have the Bose system with the rear speakers. To be honest, take the 2+ hours to do this as you do not realize what you are missing until you get it back.

The hardest part if finding the connectors for the male pins on the back of the Erisin unit. I found these insulated female spade connectors that work for 3 out of the 4 pins. There is one pin (RR- (5) IIRC) where you have to remove the insulation and squeeze the connector a bit then open it up to fit.

Other than that its a straight forward install. You will need to cut the rear speaker wires and then connect them to your custom loom. The routing is straight forward but you will need to feed them through the openings in the stock enclosures as shown below. You just need to loose then enclosure bolt (T27) enough to feed the wires through. You will also need to keep the passenger side bolt loose to feed the drivers side wire through.

Thanks for this detailed post. I am hoping to do this soon as I have the Erisin with Bose. The only part that confuses me a bit is - You will need to cut the rear speaker wires and then connect them to your custom loom. How does this work, and how does that feed back into the Erisin unit?

I intend to do the same but I, for some misguided reason, that there would be wires in the quadlock (old school thinking) that were converted along with everything else. Spent about an hour today looking at everything again and low and behold, I need to do exactly what you did except I have speakers.

The task does not daunt me but I was a little foolhardy and figured I got this.....nope!

Do you have a source for the used quadlock with that pin connector (I know the one you are taking about) or at least a reference that I should search for? I an not inclined to go down the route you went for the reasons you stated. Too loose and your sound cuts out, too tight and forcing it will bend/break the delicate pins.
Thanks for the great info. Stupid question, I have a 981 Cayman S with Bose. How do I know if I have rear speakers? I installed the Erisin on day 1 so I didnt really try the pcm out much. Behind the seats I do not see speaker grills, just carpeting. I am battling to find any video or images that show the location or how to access the rear speakers in a Cayman.

So - I'm not quite sure of the events that took place, but about 2 months after I bought my Erisin unit, I was issued a full refund without any statement as to why...at which point I have not seen them sold on the site I obtained from. I think someone blew a whistle and they were forced into refunding.

That said, unit's been okay, but damn it's slow to connect to a phone (we talking minutes at times). Since I have zero invested in this at the moment...was thinking on switching over to CHSTEK in hopes it would connect better. Well...that and I hate that I cannot match the interior lighting color.

Anybody with CHSTEK know if their phones connect quickly, without issue? Using Samsung G25 myself, wife has a iPhone 17. Connection issues with both.

If you have the USB/AUX plug in your glovebox... I use a separate, USB Bluetooth connector that plugs into the glovebox and AUX. My iPhone 14 Pro connects instantly, even if you just open the door and don't insert the key. I never even tried connecting directly to the ERISIN, the USB Bluetooth/AUX method works so well.

Do you have a picture of what the screen looks like with the parking sensors working? I am trying to get it to work with mine and Erisin rep is saying there is no visual signal for the reversing sensors. Also do you know what pin types go into the quadlock for the 4 missing speakers slots?

As detailed in my option specs on the PDF, I have "635-Park Assist". Which is only rear parking sensors, hopefully you have the same option?

The doors/trunks "when open" and rear parking sensors "light up and adjust" – appear on a pop-up display on the right side with key in, toggled on and in reverse, shown below.

The factory Quadlock pins look like this. Unfortunately no part Nr., best to purchase a used Quadlock connector with pins and pigtails and remove the pins. See p.5 on PDF for how to instructions.

You got to give a thumbs up to @studioRS for his effort to make this pdf file for the benefit of our P-9 community. It's the best I have seen so far. Well done!(y)

Attached is the full PDF – Upgrade CDR31 to ERISIN ES8559C with subwoofer and adding rear speakers.

Not that I listen to AM much, but AM reception on my Erisin is virtually all noise, completely unlistenable. Its in a 2016 CS replacing a base CDR with the yellow double-connection antenna. I've checked it several times, no improvement. FM is fine. Any ideas?
