Hey guys,

Perhaps I'm thinking too much, because for weight balance purspose, I find myself using the frunk way more often then the trunk and it got me thinking.

So just out of curiosity, which one does Planet-9 prefer when you the option of both?

YES :cheers:

Frunk..... Until I had the programming done to lower the windows when the Trunk's open. This allows it to close by lightly letting it drop, versus slamming or manually pushing.

I'd use the Frunk if it settled automatically without having to push.

Hey All;

I use the trunk to stow my car cover.

When I take the cover off the Cayman, I fold the left and right sides over the top - so when I roll it up it doesn't put dust on anything. Then I roll it up from the nose to the tail, and put it in the trunk. Fits nice and is out of the way.

The frunk has a milkcrate-sized recycling container in it, which hold the loose stuff: flash light / tire iron / jacket / large trashbags, etc.

Tony, I do the same kind of folding but roll both ends up towards the midline of the roof so when I put the cover back on I place it at the center of the roof and unroll towards each end of the car, seems easier to me.

We all have our quirks. ;-)

how about "frunk" for the front trunk and "runk" for the rear trunk?

recently, i overheard 2 guys talking about the cayman when one of them used the terms "frunk" and "runk". he explained that with respect to automobiles, trunk referred to a (relatively) large cargo compartment. he continued that the trunk is located at the opposite end from where the engine is located. as most automobiles have the engine mounted in the front, most trunks were located at the rear. however, that is not always the case, as automobiles with the engine mounted in the rear (such as the 911) have their trunks in the front. however, because the cayman is mid-engine, it has 2 trunks, which creates a need to differentiate the 2...thus "frunk" and "runk".

I primarily use the front trunk (to be proper,) but the contraction "frunk" just cracks me up!
"What the frunk?" "Get the frunk outta here!" :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

I say "under the bonnet" to sound sophisticated and impress upon people my worldly nature.

Maybe "fratch" for "front hatch"...or "engone compartment"? Get it?

We could refer to it as "the ice chest" and hang a bottle opener from the tow hook or "live well" (if I covered my car with Bass Pro Shops stickers)

I use the back because it has the cargo net. Also I drive into parking spots head-in, so it's easier to put groceries & other items into the back vs walking around to the front (where it may be a tighter squeeze).

Maybe based on the historic complaints related to the hatchback, the rear storage compartment should be called the 'clunk'! :hilarious:

I have a good mind to call the Porsche Police on you for treating a Cayman like a pack mule!

But I don't know how to dial Canada on my cell phone.

For my everyday stuff to and from work I think the trunk will be more useful. I have a small backpack, an insulated lunch carrier and lately, a light jacket. The frunk is pretty deep whereas I can throw stuff in and grab stuff out of the trunk without much of a bend on my part.

FRUNK!

My interior is beige but the frunk is black. I have less worries about getting the frunk dirty.

I'm not drinking the Coolaide - but I will drink the beer! The front storage compartment, or FSC, for those like my who work in acronym laden work places, (or PFSC - Porsche Front Storage Compartment ...)
1. looks suspiciously like the front spare tire compartments of older 911's ...
2. Does seem optimized for carrying beer. Cases (bottles or cans) seem to fit perfectly... Coincidence???? From a car designed in Germany? Hardly. So as far as I'm concerned, it's the BTS. (beer transport system)!!!!

If you look at original Porsche advertising for the Boxster thats exactly what they show being loaded into the front trunk - a crate of beer!!!

Just to throw a little more in here........it's a boot (for the rear compartment) and trunk (for the front compartment) here in England.

Since you adopted our language maybe you should adopt our terminology too? :hilarious:

(Before the world kicks off on me this is a joke and no offence is intended!) :banana::banana:

Not sure I agree with the frunk keeping beers cold. Unless we're talking during the winter months.

I drove a cayman in texas a while back. Had my overnight bag in the frunk as I hadn't given its placement much thought. My deodorant went from solid to liquid. Not nearly as easy to apply that way.

Hey Guys;

After reading the thread, I gotta admit:

A Boxster has a Trunk and a Frunk.

A Cayman has a Trunk and a Hatchback that opens to a storage area.

I find the Cayman rear storage area adequate for 90% of anything I pick up. The front storage, or frunk, has amazing space and is great for trips, but I don't like having to use two hands to open and it's harder to close because the the lid is so light.
