Hi All,

Firstly can I say, what a great forum and a pleasure to have the wisdom of so many Porsche owners available!

I have just purchased my pride and joy, a 2007 2.7 Boxster. Unfortunately it came with one of those horrible Parrot systems installed (the MKI9200) and I wanted to remove it with a view to eventually replacing it with this: Bluetooth A2DP Handsfree USB SD AUX Adapter For Porsche: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

I also noticed that there was no bass coming through the bottom door speakers (I believe I have the Sound Package Plus as I have the amplifier in the 'frunk') and think it might be something to do with the way this Parrot system has been installed. Over the weekend, thanks to many tutorials available on the website I managed to take the PCM out of the dashboard and have a look behind - I disconnected the Parrot amp (blue box) however the wiring loom is still intact as I believe the power cables have been spliced in (there is a red cable which goes into the Parrot loom from the black ISO connecter into the HU and a brown/orange one which goes to the ignition). Will post pictures shortly!

Does anyone have any ideas as to a) how i can safely disconnect the Parrot wiring loom and b) get some bass through the doors? I'm aware that the ASK amps are known to fail however I want to see if getting rid of all that Parrot stuff makes any difference before removing the amp!

I love driving my car but having the sound system sorted would be the cherry on the top!

Much appreciated,
Krishan

No worries - managed to get rid of the bloody thing and found out that the ASK amp was the source of my bass issues. Sent it to Tore (Bergvill F/X) who turned it around very quickly but it's now sat in Heathrow airport waiting to be delivered; damn corona stopping Parcelforce deliveries!! Tore is a legend though - if you have any issues he is quick to respond and I have no doubt that when the amp finally gets delivered it will work like a dream.

RE the BT adapter, I bought it and installed it - really good piece of kit. Integrates really well to the existing system and if you are reasonable with tapping into power sources then it's easy to install. Thankfully I already had a switched power source set up from the ignition for the Parrot kit so just piggybacked that. I have also heard of the Denison 500S but not sure if it would be worth the extra cash over the MR12VOLT adapter linked above as they do the same job.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need any detailed instructions on installing the adapter.

Cheers
