Don, remember he's got the NT520, not the 530 we have... so his software and versions could be different... at least that's my guess on the matter.
It was my understanding (from Foxwell) that the only differences between the 510, 520 and 530 were:
510>520 - different button types, chicklets instead of real buttons 520>530 - change in circuitry to make it work better with certain Volvo cars the 510/520 had problems with.

It would be interesting to get a copy of the desktop software mentioned NT520-Pro and see what it looks like when it looks at the 530 SD card... I might try finding a copy today..

I downloaded the install package for the "FoxScanner" software for the NT520. I tried running it, and it doesn't recognize my registration from the FoxAssist software, so I'm hesitant to go any further with it at the moment.

While I was at the FoxAssist website, I found there was an update to the FoxAssist software, so I downloaded and installed it. I then opened it and found the following updates, which I've downloaded and installed:

It appears ALL the software has been updated. I'll be hooking up to the Boxster this afternoon and seeing if anything is different. It is interesting that Foxwell appears to be using parallel software paths for 2 scanners that should use the same software AFAIK. It appears the update software is different between the NT510-Elite and the NT510-Pro. The NT530 only has that single "base" model. It uses the same software update setup as the NT510-Elite. And the NT520 only comes as the NT520-Pro, which uses the same software as .. the NT510-Pro.

Confused?

Rampant confusion reigns.. o_O

Back from the garage - still no PDK clutch calibration routine. Didn't spot any other significant changes. The settings for the tail and turnsignal lights are still reversed (halogen when LED is installed, post-2008 if LED is selected it errors out as a bad bulb..) It appears the PDK clutch calibration routine is only available on the "Pro" software. Go figure. It does however have the PDK fill routine function. The reset service message is especially confusing for date entry.. the example shown makes no sense (didn't take a pic, will next time.) It appears to be year/month/day - but that isn't how their example looks.

As a reminder, My NT530 did offer the PDK calibration. But after stepping through the preparation screens, after the final OK to start the calibration, it then fails with a Function Terminated screen message. This is on a 2013BB.
I do remember that - it seems a difference between the 987 PDK and the 981 PDK.

I forgot to check on Tuesday evening, so I checked last night. Below is a pic of my screen showing the software installed for my NT530, and it does not run calibration.

We need to find out from Foxwell why the NT520Pro uses different software from the NT530, and will run the calibration, while the NT530 with it's software will not run the calibration.

I previously asked them this question myself, but I receive no customer support. This is because I bought mine from a vendor on Amazon who will not respond, and Foxwell only tells me to contact the vendor. Amazon only offered for me to return it, which I didn't want to do, and that window surely is closed.

Maybe someone else can contact Foxwell with the question?

How did you ask them? My experience was very poor asking them via the support link on their webpage - I got much better results going to their Facebook page and asking via a posting there. They messaged me back, and we did have an intermittent conversation which didn't really have a satisfactory outcome. But at least they started talking to me.

When you say it won't run the calibration - this was on a 981?

Regarding what I posted above, I asked Foxwell why the calibration does not work, not about why NT520 calibrates and NT530 doesn't. Couldn't figure out how to edit the above post.
To edit any post you've made - click on the 3 dots on the right side of the message.. it should offer you the option of editing the post.

Foxwell said they will not provide customer support to me because I did not purchase directly from them. They suggested I contact the vendor. The vendor does not respond to me. I don't have a Facebook account.

Yes, this is a 981BB.

I would think that someone who has access to Foxwell customer support could ask on our behalf, and hopefully get some clarity.

I'll try the FB route later on today..

Yesterday I also tried to recalibrate the PDK of my 981 PDK with the NT 530. It has the newest software (updated ~10 days ago). I cleared all errors in all controllers before. Then clicked through, started engine, parking brake was enabled, foot brake also. But all I got was "Not support this function." Did this several times w or w/o foot brake, door opened etc. To no avail. Sometimes I got "Function terminated" or similar, I think this was when I didn't do all of the preparations like brakes etc.

I just created a ticket as I bought the 530 directly from foxwell.

Today I got a response from foxwell. They also sent me a special version of 'porsche.bin' to replace the one on my 530. It seems to be extended to write a log file which I'll then send to them.
Seems like we get some progress here ;)
Awaiting feedback on this with great anticipation. When I used FB messenger to communicate with them, they did the same for me. Their "engineer" analyzed my log file, and told me I didn't have a PDK transmission, despite it being rather obvious physically to me that I did, plus the PDK fluid fill function was enabled, as was resetting of the PDK learned behavior. We repeated this discussion quite a few times to no avail. At that point I gave up.

I wonder if the PCM version has any impact on this working or not.
I can't see why it would - the PCM has nothing to do with the PDK transmission control module.
