VMWare allows you to run Windows on an Intel Mac just like your run Windows on your Intel XXX.

There is no such thing as a compatibility issue aside from the same issue you might have with Windows versions.

I run my Traqmate software and my brother runs his ECU tuning software on Macs via VMWare.

Now I must get in my car and go to OracleWorld where I will be speaking on the subject. LOL.

 

I'm pretty sure that the software itself will work fine using Windows under VMWare but the challenge will be to get the driver for the cable working. You can download the driver and software from the Durametric web site and try it without buying the cable.

Yep, guilty as charged. Sent the wife's mbook for Scott to develop on. I only do my flashes under bootcamp, but I have used durametric a few times in parallels.

 

I just went to the Durametric site and downloaded the software and drivers. Seemed like all went well. Unfortunatly, to test it I would need the cable. I searched the forum but couldn't find any additional information. I also sent Durametric an email to inquire. I'll keep everyone posted. I would think that someone out there has used a Mac with this software?

I guess that I thought the same but I also have a Escort Radar Detector 9500ix and when I went to update the software, even though I could download and install the software, my computer does not recognize the cable plugged into the USB port? The only difference that I see is that Durametric provides drivers and Escort does not.

 

I have used Durametric software and cable on Cayman and 997TT under both VM Ware and Parallels running XP on MacBook Air. Works great

 

Scott's official position and I've seen it posted on here many times is if you are going to use a Mac, do the update through Bootcamp so that you're running a full windows environment, not virtualization.

 

If you want support from the manufacturer, go with what they support.

Can't argue with that.

 

I have a MacBook and am running Windows XP under Bootcamp. My Durametric software and Softronic flashes all work just fine.

 

Haha... okay so I tried to flash my car with the SRP file while using Parallels (just like Fusion) - and it killed the car. I had to install bootcamp and reflash to stock to get it working again. Then flashed to the SRP file.

So again - it ONLY WORKS PROPERLY with Bootcamp.

You would have to use Bootcamp also for the Durametric to work properly or basically an Intel based Mac.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. As I said initially, I have a MacBook Pro that has the Intel processor. For my immediate use, VMware should work, but I can easily load bootcamp.
