Replacement ball joints for convertible top?

So today the weather was nice and I went out for a drive, tried to lower the top and it just stayed put though the rear clamshell opened and the motors whirred. Looking around in there it looks like there is a lever with a plastic ball on it that is broken and those levers are just flopping around. I can raise and lower it fine by hand if I stop the clamshell halfway.

Seems like this is a common problem due to this part which receives a lot of stress being made out of plastic. Cost savings!

Anyway looking around it looks like OEM only sells new rods and they are not super cheap. But I found this ebay listing that claims to sell OEM ball joints for $29 shipped: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-Bo...op-Push-Rod-Repair-OEM-Ball-Joint-PairNEW-/191595585977?ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT

Anyone know if these are legit? I figure I might try them and I'm only out $30 if they break in a year but before I spend it I thought I'd see if anyone has any experience with them.

I've ordered the same thing for my roof rods. Only one of mine is broken at this point but I will replace both.

The entire metal rod and plastic end is available from Porsche but not just the plastic end joint. The end joints shown in the ebay listing above are easy to install just by unscrewing the broken plastic joint and screwing the new ones on the same number of turns. Then snap the cap onto the metal ball.

Don't be tempted to buy metal end sockets (although they are available). The plastic ones are designed to break under stress so that the motor is protected from damage. (FYI the thing that creates the stress is if something restricts the top from opening or closing properly... often it can happen if the latch isn't fully released before operating the electric switch.)

Thanks for sharing your findings and solution.Would you share a photo or two of the offending part in situ, either broken or repaired, for completeness?
